Day by day schedule:
Day 1. Sofia - arrival.
Arrival in Sofia, the largest city and capital of Bulgaria. Transfer from the airport to the hotel. Before dinner, there will be a briefing where you will get acquainted with the KHL team, fellow participants, tour rules, and the upcoming route.
Day 2. Sofia - Lake Kastoria (Greece) about 500 km.
On the first day of our journey we need to cover a distance of 500 km on the highway as our route to Albania takes us through the northern part of Greece. Departing from Sofia, we head south along the Rila mountain range, reaching the Kulata border checkpoint. We will have lunch in Greece, in the vicinity of Thessaloniki, with a view of the Aegean Sea. Our overnight stay will be by the picturesque Lake Kastoria (Greece).
Day 3. We will cross the border with Albania.
On this day, we will cross the border into Albania and follow the most scenic route of Albania, the SH75. Our lunch will be at a cozy place named Shelegër Lake, and by evening, we will arrive at our designated location where welcoming hosts at a splendid villa and a fantastic dinner will greet us. This will be our accommodation for the next four nights.
Day 4. The first day of off-road adventures in Albania.
The first day of off-road adventures in Albania. Having prepared our motorcycles, we set out to conquer vast gravel roads of national parks. Ahead of us lie picturesque landscapes, along with the impressive Langarica Canyon featuring natural thermal springs.
Day 5. Off-roading in the scenic Osumi Canyon.
The second and third days of our off-road excitement! We head to the Tomorri Mountain National Park for a two-day adventure. We'll ride along the scenic Osumi Canyon, surrounded by incredible vistas and the warmth of thermal springs. Our route will lead us to an old Roman (Ottoman) bridge, a perfect spot for capturing vibrant photographs. We'll witness breathtaking landscapes and the grandeur of mountain ranges. Our journey's endpoint will be the foothills of Mount Tomorr, where we'll spend the night.
Day 6. An ascent to the summit of Mount Tomorr.
Our journey continues. Ahead of us lies an ascent to the summit of Mount Tomorr (elevated at 2320 meters), granting us a breathtaking panoramic view of the national park. A visit to the mausoleum and monument of Abbas Ail Turbe is an option. The landscapes there are simply outstanding! Our route then follows an ancient Roman road, preserved in its pristine state in certain sections, leading us to a remarkably sized Roman bridge. By evening, we'll be back at the villa, ready to unwind and enjoy our rest.
Day 7. The final stage of our off-road adventures in Albania.
The fourth and final stage of our off-road adventures in Albania. After breakfast, we will head to the plateau, where a magnificent panorama of mountains and surrounding valleys will unfold before us. We won't miss the opportunity to have a photoshoot and enjoy a wonderful mountain picnic.
Day 8. The final day in Albania.
Today is the final day in Albania. En route to Greece, we'll make a stop at the ancient Ottoman Empire-era city of Gjirokastër, a town with museum status and UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition. Here, we'll have lunch before proceeding to cross the border. Our overnight stay will be by the shores of Lake Polyfitou in Greece.
Day 9. The tour finishes in Sofia.
The tour finishes in Sofia, where a farewell dinner awaits you. This will be an opportunity for you to share your impressions and photos from the journey with KHL Mototravel!!!
