Day by day schedule:
Day 1. Arrival in Sofia.
Welcome! You arrived to Sofia - largest city and the capital of Bulgaria. We meet you at the airport and drive you to the hotel. During the evening meeting you will get acquainted with the members of KHL crew. We will describe our routе and rules of the tour.
Day 2. Sofia - Kazanlak - Pavel Bania - about 220 km.
This day the route goes through the Podbalkana pass and onwards trough the Rose Valey, where we grow Rosa Damascena - the scented “gold”. The Valley of Thracian Kings - biggest concentration of monumental tombs under mounds is between the modern town of Shipka and the village of Kran. Then adventure takes us to Shipka mountain pass where on the top we face the stunning view of Shipka Monument of Freedom - a memorial honoring those who lost their lives for the freedom of Bulgaria. Close to the top of the mountain we will also visit Buzludzha Monument, known amongst the adventure travelers as the “Space Ship.” After descending from the Shipka Pass, we head towards Pavel Banya healing mineral waters resort where we stay for the night.
Day 3. Pavel Bania - Haskovo - Kardzhali - Zlatograd - about 220 km.
The route passes through the fertile fields of South Bulgaria and we reach the town of Haskovo. Riding more on the south of Bulgaria we reach the ethnographic town of Zlatograd – where authentic architecture is preserved in its original built. Overnight stay amongst the ancient beauty of the old houses from the Revival period.
Day 4. Zlatograd - Ardino - Shiroka Laka, Gela - about 160 km.
From Zlatograd we submerge to the beaty of the curves of Rodopi mountain. Beautiful small villages on the mountain top and our road flows through them. Along the way we will visit the Devil’s bridge close to Ardino – remaining from Roman times. Overnight Stay will be arranged on top of the mountain in Gela - famous with the 100 Bagpipe festival.
Day 5. Gela - Gotse Delcev about 160 km.
Our route in the Rhodopes drops to Orlovo oko (Eagles’ Eye) – a peak in the mountain with a cantilever bridge jutting out of the abyss. Standing over it, you will feel weightless. We will stop the bikes at Yagodina (Strawberry) village, take 4 wheels ride to the peak of the mountain and after coming down we will have lunch in the village. Then travel continues along the southern parts of the Rhodopes and drop by the Gradishte Historic Landscape Park. Overnight Stay is in Gotse Delchev.
Day 6. Gotse Delchev - Sofia about 230 km.
In the morning, we'll set off to Ski resourt of Bansko for a short visit and onwards to Predela Pass where three mountains join together - Rila, Pirin, and the Rhodopes. The city of Bansko itself is always crowded with tourists. The summer season starts immediately after the end of the winter season, which runs from December to May. Mountain hikers, bikers, extreme sports enthusiasts, and horse-riding lovers arrive then. The folklore festival and the international jazz festival are the most important cultural events in the city, attracting thousands of tourists. After Predela pass we will visit the Rila Monastery - founded in the 10th century by St John of Rila, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. The monastery was a hub of a strong spiritual and artistic influence over the Eastern Orthodox world during medieval times (11th-14th c.) under Ottoman rule. Our tour will end in Sofia, where you will enjoy your final dinner with us and we will be able to share your impressions and pictures. with the other participants of the tour!
